Surrounded by mountains, forest, and coastline, this experience reveals how urban landscapes blend seamlessly with the rich habitats of Tierra del Fuego. From coastal wetlands to quiet forest edges, we’ll encounter a range of species that thrive at the edge of the world—all without leaving the city limits.

It’s a low-intensity walk-and-scan experience designed to make the most of Ushuaia’s mixed habitats. We keep the pace flexible, adjust to wind and tide, and focus on quality views, fieldcraft, and the local ecology and history of the End of the World city.

  • Due to its short duration, this experience can be easily combined with other birding or nature-focused half-day tours, such as Martial Glacier area or Tierra del Fuego National Park HD.

  • Use comfortable walking shoes – trails may include forest paths, peat bogs, and uneven terrain

  • Targeted stops for raptors and scavengers, including the elusive White-throated Caracara, Chimango and Crested Caracaras, American Kestrel, and Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle depending on conditions.
  • An unexpectedly rich urban wetland environment at Bahía Encerrada Urban Reserve, where a brackish lagoon and saltmarsh support breeding snipe, cinclodes, and a variety of other species thriving just minutes from the city center.
